Description

Picotee blooms of either pink or blue, many with serrated petal edges and all held in very large clusters on strong stems that won't flop in garden or vase. Quite cold-hardy, they are very heavy bloomers, offering nonstop flowers from late spring well into summer. Brought to us from Europe but originally bred in Japan in the 1990's by Hiroshi Ebihara, this series arose from crosses of H. 'Crystal Halo' x H. 'Silver Edge.' bold serration, ruffling, a variable picotee that gleams quite dramatically, and very rich central color of pink or blue. These mophead blooms reach 7 1/2 to 8 inches in diameter, beginning in late spring and continuing through summer. 3 feet high and wide, this shrub is the perfect container choice, and also commands attention at the front of the foundation planting or shrub border. Plant in  partial shade and well-worked, enriched soil for best growth and flowering.
