Primula x tommasinii 'You and Me White'
Click on my picture to purchase me for your garden Categories: Perennial | DescriptionEach flower consists of two identical petal structures (the top one is actually the calyx), one sitting almost directly atop the other, of white petals stroked with orange and yellow at the base. Highly fragrant and very long-lasting, the blooms sit atop thick, sturdy stems. In most climates, you will see the first brave Primroses poking through the soil in late winter, and the final ones won't pass until the seriously hot weather of early summer arrives. 3 to 4 months of bloom The plant hugs the ground with a basal rosette of large, bright green leaves held well below the blooms. In flower it measures about 8 to 12 inches high and 6 to 9 inches wide, and flourishes best in continuously moist, sandy, slightly acidic soil receiving half a day of shade. P. x tommasinii is the cold-hardiest of all Primula, and is far more tough than its dainty blooms suggest; if you divide this plant every 4 to 5 years, it will thrive and bloom for many, many seasons. |
